Heavenly Handspinning is so pleased to announce the production and release for purchase of our third kick wheel: Calypso.

Calypso is a hand turned Mother Marion with a custom and patented ball bearing system, that gives her a super smooth, fast and long spin. Calypso's post is made from a bearing so she has little or no resistance, just speed. She has been uniquely and custom designed for a serious spinner in mind. She is so portable and easy to use that you can take her any where and every where. Calypso is really a gorgeous piece of art in the bargain as well :o) She is made completely out of maple except for her birch spindle and birch whorl which are used for their steadfastness. Her wood, like all of our products, is hand selected. The gorgeous girl has an art deco base and sides.

The designer, creator of Calypso is also her maker as well. Not many companies, if any, can say that. It assures that you get the best. Calypso is only available through Heavenly Handspinning and/or few our select friends. She is patented so there will never be another like her. Her interworkings are uniquely designed with spinning only in mind.

Calypso is custom made at time of order, so please allow seven days from time of ordering to day she is sent in the mail to you. Calypso is unfinished but for a limited time: you also receive our custom, herbal and organic wax made just for spinners. Our wax is great for Calypso's wood but it can be used for wooden bowls, wooden utensils and rough dry hands and feet :o)

Calypso is approx 16 inches long and 14 inches wide. Her spindle is 24 inches in length. Her wheel is 8 inches wide and 2 inches thick. She weighs roughly 7 pounds. Calypso is a sturdy but gorgeous lady.

Heavenly Handspinning is so please to announce the production and release for purchase, of one of our newest Kick Wheels: Clotho's Spindle. Clotho is a mostly hand turned kick wheel that sits like a bottom whorl drop spindle.

She has a special bearing in her base that allows for a super smooth, long and fast spin. Without a post for support she has very little friction to slow her speed. She is made of gorgeous maple and birch. Like all of our products, the maple used for her is hand selected. Her whorl is completely maple, along with the base that she sits upon. Her spindle is made of birch for its sturdiness.

Her designer and creator is also her maker. Not many companies can say that. There is not a spindle made anything like Clotho. She is completely unique and is patented. She will only ever be made by Heavenly Handspinning.

Clotho is about eight inches wide and eight inches long. She stands about 24 inches tall. Her wheel is eight inches across and two inches deep. She weighs in at about six pounds.

This spindle/wheel is also called Mother Marion's Magnificent Spinning Machine. This type of wheel was developed in 1981 and named after the inventor's mother-in-law. Heavenly Handspinning has updated this wonderful device, which works similarly to a drop spindle, but will allow you to sit or stand while spinning, freeing both hands for working with the roving.

The wheel is turned with your foot or hand (depending on whether it's placed on the floor or a table) and spinning occurs off the tip and hook. The length and stationary aspect of this wheel make it an excellent choice for plying.

The combination of light-weight, portability and ease of use, make this wheel/spindle - perfect to take anywhere.

"Little Meggie" has been updated for the 21st century, with the addition of a radial ball bearing. The spindle base rests in the ball bearing, creating a longer spin.

The wheel is custom and hand made by Heavenly Handspinning. The wheel's base is made of beautiful, maple. The rest of the assembly is made of oak and hardwood. The base is 8 inches in length and the total height from hook tip to base bottom is approximately 13 inches. The wheel measures 4 inches in diameter.
